La Générale, Paris, France
April 29 – May 12th
Developments for Transformation III continue with a second 2-week residency for EEGsynth at La Générale, Laboratoire artistique politique et social.
During the first days, Samon Takahashi and I developed Steady-State [version for 2] further. We also put efforts into recording several exercises, which we hope will be part of an LP together with the original members of 1+1=3 | EEGsynth. Here is a small taste of what is to come:
Paris XIV vs. La Générale: offices versus cultural, artistic & intellectual exchanges
The reason for leaving (and partly exporting) the home studio was the open community environment that La Générale offers, which is always intellectually enriching and artistically inspiring. For example, we were able to discuss our working process with Ryoji Ikeda with whom we share a fascination for raw sound and light.
It is therefor a sad affair that the municipality of Paris has decided to evict La Générale on November 30th to house their own offices. This obviously will disrupt, if not end, an program that has been ongoing for almost 20 years, providing innumerable and invaluable encounters that have seeded and maintained collective thought, and provided the public a unique space for collaborative exchanges, discussions and experimentation. More than any other initiative that I know, La Générale has been providing a safe space for art and discourse that is severely lacking, even more so in today’s cultural climate. Please your letters of support for accommodating La Générale to the Parisian authorities shown below:
